Brian Murphy is a native of Pennsylvania and obtained his B. A. from Penn State in 1987. After graduation, he worked for Masland Industries in Carlisle, PA as an Employee Relations Representative. He then transferred to Masland's Toronto, Ontario plant as the Employee Relations Manager until he left in 1989 to attend law school.
Brian graduated, with honors, from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was Associate Editor-In-Chief of the South Carolina Law Review (volume 43) and was appointed as a legal writing instructor. He was a member of the Order of the Coif, the Order of Wig and Robe, and the John Belton O'Neall Inn of Court.
After graduation, Brian practiced with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Harrisburg, PA, until he returned to South Carolina to join Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart in Greenville. Since September 1996, he has represented primarily individuals, although he still represents some companies.
In November 1998 Brian received a Martindale Hubbell rating of AV, the highest rating available in the profession. He has authored one law review article on South Carolina employment law, 43 S.C. L. Rev. 387 (1992), and is a contributing author to Labor & Employment Law for South Carolina Employers (S.C. Bar 2004).

Brian is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and South Carolina, including the federal district courts for South Carolina and the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the Third and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court.
In addition to practicing law, Brian provides a host of third party neutral services , including services as a certified due process hearing officer for cases arising under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as well as a mediator and arbitrator for both Sate and Federal-court cases.
